Big dig on Bainbridge Street - Philadelphia Real Estate Blog

Hole in 1400 block of Bainbridge 1

This space looks like it could easily accommodate eight houses, but it will hold only two.

The Artisan townhouse development in the 1400 block of Bainbridge Street has given Graduate Hospital a handsome new streetscape. That streetscape is about to get an enormous new gateway.

A reader tipped us off to a huge excavation on the one remaining vacant lot on the 1400 block. We went to check it out, and it is indeed big. We?ve heard through this source that the hole being dug will be filled with two ultra-large, ultra-high-end townhouses. According to permits on file with the Department of Licenses and Inspections, the houses will each be five stories and up to 61 feet high, with a nine-space parking garage, a second-floor pool and a roof deck.

We hear there will be a nine-car garage. Wonder if it will be above or below ground?

The project architect has declined thus far to speak on the record about it. We will keep you informed as we learn more.
