For years we had a beautiful Sheltie (Dudley) who had an incredible coat, what a beautiful dog. While Dudley was the love of our lives we quickly learned that keeping him healthy and happy meant a ton of work.
Where we were living at the time (Vancouver, BC) was a haven for fleas and ticks. The moderate climate combined with plenty of green space allowed these little beasties to thrive. Poor Dudley developed a terrible case of fleas and no amount of flea baths, grooming and flea collars seemed to work for us.
Finally, after many years, business circumstances forced a geographical shift for us all and we moved to Halifax, NS where Dudley quickly settled in. The climate in Nova Scotia is quite different than that of Vancouver BC (we have a long and cold winter) so battling fleas became a little easier.
It took about another two years to releave poor Dudley of his flea infestation but he was able to spend the last of his years with us free of fleas and all the biting and scratching that goes along with it.
Here is a great book for you to keep your pet free of fleas, healthy and happy.
